Vintage 1950s Gingham Check Billy Dee Fit & Flare Dress XS Full Skirt Bow Tie

  

What an incredible vintage 1950s dress by Billy Dee! The cotton dress features a gingham check print in white and rusty brown (in some lights it looks almost brick red, but the buttons are brown).

The bodice has short dolman sleeves, two breast pockets, and a collar with a big bow. There are thread belt loops at the nipped in waist (but no belt) and the skirt is super full I've shown this dress with a crinoline just so you could see the potential fullness of the skirt, but the dress looks equally cute without the extra poof! The skirt has two hidden hip pockets and the dress buttons up the front and closes with a hidden snap at the neck. The dress is pre-owned vintage, looks like it's been worn, and has two flaws: 1 the snap at the neck needs to be reattached, 2 there is a small patch on the skirt.

The patch was done with the dress' fabric so it blends in well - the skirt is so full, it's really hard to spot the patch when the dress is on (but you can see it in the last photo). There isn't a size label in this dress, but I think it measures like a modern day size xs/xxs my dress form was FAR too busty for this dress! Please take a look at my measurements (taken flat) to see if this dress is right for you. Underarm to underarm: 17 inches (so up to 34 inches all the way around).

Waist: 11.75 inches (so 23.5 inches all the way around). Sweep: 110 inches so 220 inches all the way around - there is a LOT of material to the skirt! Length: 42 inches (I'm 5ft5 and this dress hits me below my knee but not quite mid-calf).
